Missions abroad of Airborne Brigade “FOLGORE”

LEBANON 1982 – OPERATION “ITALCON”
The first massive abroad intervention of Italian Army’s contingents beacause of the massacres in the Palestinian camps of Sabra and Shatila. Leaded by Gen. Brig. Par. Franco ANGIONI, it’s happened in the period from 24 September 1982 to 6 March 1984 in Beirut and have been involved paratroopers of the 9th Battalion “Col Moschin”, the 1st Battalion Car. “Tuscania”, the 2nd Battalion “Tarquinia” and the 5th Battalion “El Alamein”.

KURDISTAN 1991 – OPERATION “AIRONE”
Leaded by Gen. Div. Par. Franco BUSCEMI, from 16 July to 7 October, have been involved paratroopers of Tactical Group “El Alamein” composed by two Cp. of the 5th Battalion and of one Cp. of the 9th Battalion, one group of the 1st Battalion Carabinieri, the Logistic Parachutists Battalion and soldiers of the Genio companies located in the base of Zakho in Kurdistan, with security tasks, reclaim of the minefields and assistance to refugees. The Avio Company, located in Incirlik in Turkey, has been involved with jumps of foods and kinds of comfort for the Kurdistan population. 

SOMALIA 1992 – OPERATION “IBIS”
The Italian contingent focused on the Airborne Brigade “Folgore” leaded by Gen. B. Par. Bruno Loi, from 13 December 1992 to 21 March 1994 has operated from Mogadiscio to Ethiopia borders, for territory reclaim, escorting foods, sanitary help to the population and having firefights with rebels with epicenter the Check Point “Pasta”. During the mission have fallen 11 soldiers, 1 voluntary nurse of Italian Red Cross and 2 journalists of R.A.I. To Par. Pasquale BACCARO, to S.M. Stefano PAOLICCHI and to S.Ten. Gianfranco PAGLIA has been conferred the Gold Medal for Military Valor.

RWANDA 1994 – OPERATIONS “IPPOCAMPO” and “ENTEBBE”
On 10 March 1994 the conflicts between etnies Tutsi and Hutu risk to involve our connationals here residents and one contingent of 9th Battalion was sent for the operations of connational recovery and to bring the fist aid to one group of rwandan refugeees, in prevalence children.

ALBANIA 1997 - OPERAZIONE “ALBA”

Il 187°Rgt ed il 9°Rgt sono schierati nella Forza Multinazionale di Proiezione.

MACEDONIA 1998 – OPERAZIONE “JOINT GUARANTOR”

KOSOVO 1999 – MISSIONE “KFOR”
Il Personale della Brigata Folgore è impegnato nelle missioni a garanzia degli accordi di Dayton e il soccorso umanitario alle popolazioni

 

TIMOR EST 1999 – OPERAZIONE “STABILISE”
A causa del referendum favorevole all’indipendenza dell’isola dall’Indonesia, fazioni armate contrarie, provocano gravi gravi disordini e numerose vittime fra la popolazione. Dal 30 agosto 1999 a 17 febbraio 2000 sono sull’isola  i paracadutisti del 187° Rgt e del 9° Rgt inseriti nella Forza Multinazionale “INTERFERT” per ristabilire la pace e la sicurezza e agevolare le operazioni di assistenza  sanitaria alla popolazione.

 

AFGHANISTAN 2002 – OPERAZIONE “ISAF”
Dal 10 gennaio 2002 un contingente del 9° Rgt è a Kabul per garantire un ambiente sicuro a tutela dell’autorità Afgana che si è insediata al comando del paese.

Al centro della sala alcuni veicoli in dotazione ai reparti paracadutisti.

Un M.T.A.90 mototrattore aviolanciabile, per il trasporto di materiali a seguito di aviolanci, la Moto Alpeen Scooter e la motocicletta Italiana "Alpenpara"
